Hidden Keys to Discover True Purpose in Life: A Life-Changing Guide

Life is brutal and unforgiving but also life is a remarkable journey filled with experiences, opportunities, and challenges. At times, we may find ourselves questioning the purpose and meaning of our existence. In these moments of introspection, we seek the secret to finding fulfillment and purpose in life. Who are we? Why have we been put here? What is our purpose in life? These are a few questions that have been clouding human minds for centuries.

There is a reason why we cannot satisfy ourselves even after getting food, shelter, clothes & sex. We knew, deep in our hearts that there is something else we are here for, the purpose of our lives. Since then, we are still figuring out the core purpose of our lives. However, various philosophers and schools of thought have defined it significantly.

In this article, we will explore the key elements that can help us unlock the path to a more purposeful and fulfilling life.

Introduction

We often hear phrases like “finding your purpose” or “living a purpose-driven life,” but what does it truly mean? Purpose can be defined as the underlying reason or motivation behind our actions and choices. It gives our lives direction, meaning, and a sense of fulfillment. Discovering and living in alignment with our purpose can bring immense satisfaction and contentment.

If not for any reason, why do we do what we do? It will be a matter of great depression that we have no solid idea as to why we are doing what we are doing!

This is where purpose comes in.

Understanding Purpose

The purpose is a deeply personal and subjective concept. It varies from person to person, as it is influenced by our unique experiences, values, and beliefs. Some individuals find purpose in their careers, while others find it in personal relationships, creative pursuits, or positively impacting their communities. It is essential to understand that purpose is not a one-size-fits-all concept; it is a profoundly individual journey.

Similarly, as we all go through different and unique experiences of life in all aspects, our purpose in life is also unique, and nobody else but we define it!

Identifying Your Passions and Values

One of the crucial steps in finding purpose is identifying our passions and values. Our passions are the activities or interests that bring us joy, excitement, and a sense of fulfillment.

Reflecting on what truly excites us and brings out our best selves can provide valuable insights into our purpose.

Additionally, our values act as guiding principles that shape our behavior and decisions. Assessing our core values helps align our actions with what truly matters to us.

It is to be kept in mind that without values and ethics, passions cannot be related to purpose. Maybe, you enjoy indulging in drugs and sex, but that does not mean your purpose in life is that, right?
Similarly, It is to be very clear that besides passion, values are of utmost importance. If anything I love doing is not ethical or not aligning with my values as a better human being, that cannot be my purpose.

Setting Meaningful Goals

Imagine a beautiful, luxurious ship sailing in the sea but having no definite destination. That luxury, that journey will start getting boring, and very soon, you will start screaming in anxiety to know where are you even going!

When a ship without a goal (destination) can be exhausting and boring, Imagine life without goals. It is just an ordinary life with not even ordinary significance.

Goals play a vital role in our journey towards purpose. They provide a roadmap and a sense of direction. When setting goals, it is essential to make them meaningful and aligned with our passions and values.

Using the SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) framework can help ensure that our goals are well-defined and attainable.

Embracing Growth and Learning

A stagnant source of water starts stinking and makes the surroundings very unpleasant while a flowing river not only provides us with fresh water but helps civilizations prosper on its banks.

A life of purpose is often intertwined with growth and learning. Embracing opportunities for self-improvement, both personally and professionally, helps us expand our knowledge, skills, and perspectives. By continuously seeking growth, we open doors to new possibilities and increase our capacity to make a meaningful impact.

We should never try or aim to “settle” in life. You have to settle down after death and that is sure.

So, try to live before you die.
It is a well-known saying that “Few people die at 30 but are buried at 80”

Keep learning, keep growing, and keep redefining the purpose in life.

Cultivating Meaningful Relationships

If one thing that separates humans from other animals is there, it is the way we define, respect, and align our human relationships. It is one of the 4 pillars of a successful life. Three others are wealth, wellness & wisdom. 🙂

Human connections play a significant role in our pursuit of purpose. Building and nurturing meaningful relationships provide a sense of belonging, support, and fulfillment. Surrounding ourselves with individuals who inspire, challenge, and uplift us can help us on our journey toward purpose.

Giving Back to Others

Takers might live well but givers sleep well. Philanthropy is the best way to not only understand our inner selves rather give us a meaningful purpose in life.

One of the most powerful ways to find purpose is by giving back to others. Acts of kindness, volunteering, and supporting the causes we believe in allow us to make a positive impact on the lives of others. The act of helping not only benefits those we assist but also brings a deep sense of fulfillment and purpose to our own lives.

Next time, you get an opportunity to give back something, grab it! You will not repent.

Embracing Mindfulness and Gratitude

We get into life so often that we forget what living the present life has to give us and just wander randomly in the storm of it.

Practicing mindfulness and gratitude are essential components of a purposeful life. Mindfulness involves being fully present in the moment and appreciating the beauty and wonders around us. Gratitude helps us recognize and express appreciation for the blessings and opportunities we have. Both mindfulness and gratitude cultivate a sense of contentment and allow us to live more purposefully.

If one simple activity can bring you closer to your purpose in life, it is mindfulness.

Overcoming Challenges and Obstacles

Remember, playing video games as kids. Imagine those games with no obstacles, challenges, or difficulty levels. Boring, right?

If you think, life is very different than those video games, well it is, when it comes to the multiple lives we used to get in games else, life is just like those games, and challenges in life come to help us level up. If we will not face the challenges, we will stick in the same place our whole lives and would never know, what life has to offer on the other side of those challenges.

Challenges and obstacles are inevitable on the path to purpose. It is crucial to develop resilience and learn from setbacks. Each challenge we face provides an opportunity for growth, self-discovery, and refining our sense of purpose. By embracing challenges and learning from them, we can emerge stronger and more determined to live a purposeful life.

Taking intentional action toward our purpose, even in small steps, can lead to significant transformation and fulfillment. Remember, the purpose is not a destination but a lifelong journey.

Like Lao Tzu said “ The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”
